Good thing Sara brought a FitBit

We have spent the last 5 days rising early and working at Adziwa. The tasks for the volunteers have been all sorts of things. Cooking, building, teaching, caregiving, observing and all kinds of other things. We realized yesterday that all of us have walked over 30 miles in the past 5 days! That makes for hungry and tired volunteers at the end of each day. And let’s not forget to mention dusty! We have all been comparing dirty feet 🙂
Last night was the magic moment when I felt the group come together. Seems to always happen about the same time each trip. Night 5 proved to be fun for all. We had a cultural dance presentation and all the ladies participated. They loved the costumes and drumming. We had a great meal and everyone cleaned their plates! I went to bed shortly after the festivities ended, but the group stayed up chatting around the fire.
This morning was another early day and all of the ladies seemed to feel so comfortable with the walk and with the work at Adziwa. They are all learning so much and asking lotst of questions about the program and how WCIM helps Adziwa throughout the year.
Tomorrow we go to town for a tour and some shopping and then it’s off to the lake! This group can’t wait to see he lake and finally experience what all the fuss is about. The weather has warmed up so I’m sure there will be some swimming and kayaking as well as an epic hike Sunday morning.
Thanks again to all who keep up with our posts and who are sending good thoughts our way.

Sunday was a mostly relaxing day. I slept until I woke up 😉 no particular time up was needed, but I still got up at around 6:30. Felt nice to have nothing really to do until 1pm. I walked up to the lodge to write and post the final blog for the teachers trip ….
