Quick Check In

We have left Malawi for our 3 day safari in Zambia. After working for 5 strait days we were all ready for a break. This has been the most physical project a group has ever taken on. We spent each day doing construction and walking to and from the work site. With our sore muscles and bruses we were happy to jump in the van and make the 120 mile treck into Zambia. We arrived here 2 days ago and have been amazed at what we have been able to see. The pictures we all bring back will never do the experience justice.

The 120 mile drive took us 8 hours to accomplish! Some might think that is strange, but if you know Africa you can understand. We had to exit Malawi and take care of paperwork at the border and then at another office pass into Zambia and take care of entry paperwork. This took over an hour at each post. Without having time to tell the entire story I will have to save the details for another time. At one point though I was standing in the Zambia border crossing office laughing so hard I had tears streaming down my face. Some of the best adventures happen on long car rides in Malawi.

We have left the kitchen project in the hands of a group of construction workers who had been working along side us since we arrived. The head man has told us that while we are away they will have the roof put on and the counter poured. We should be able to cook the first meal there for the children on Monday. I have my fingers crossed that things have gone smoothly while we have been gone.

The group is all getting along well and we have reached the point where we feel like a family. We are thinking of pitching our story for a reality tv show. The vast difference in personalities has made for many many laughs. We will all come home with some great stories. I have to run, but will try and post again tomorrow and give more details about what we have seen while in Zambia.

Love to all who follow and I am so sorry it has been difficult to keep everyone updated this trip.
