2014 Trip Dates

Trips for 2014 have started to come together. Wonderful things are in store for our volunteers and for the communities we will be working in. If you are interested in our “open trip” those dates will be July 11th-28th. This trip is limited to 15 people and spots will fill! For the first time we have extended our itinerary by 3 days in order to make room for some new programs.

Now is the time to make the decision to travel in July of 2014. Give yourself plenty of time to prepare and plan for this adventure of a lifetime. We will be posting a preliminary itinerary soon to give you more details about the adventure.

This program is the perfect way to immerse yourself in a new culture. You will have incredible experiences working with and learning from local people. We offer classes in culture and language as well as some travel and sightseeing in Malawi and also Zambia.

Our current focus is woking with a CBO (community based organization) that was started to assist orphans and their extended families. We are working to help this community become self sustainable. Sharing ideas and resources will allow them to eventually take their community organization to the next level. The community is located in Kauma whichnis a squatter area east of the capital city, Lilongwe. It has a population of 15,000, half of which are children under the age of 15. These children have been orphaned as a result of diseases such as HIV and malaria. The income level of the people is among the lowest in Malawi.

Over the past few years we have helped to bring clean water, a cookhouse and the beginning stages of a community garden that will eventually help feed the community. These have been building blocks and this year we will take on another stage of this process.

Please stay tuned as details come together. We have the dates and now we will begin working out the daily activity schedule.

Fill out our contact form if you are interested in signing on for this trip or if you just want more information.

2014 will be another great year for With Change In Mind and we hope you decide to join us!
